Our Volunteer Orientation is a quick introduction to Oakwood, our members, and what it means to volunteer in a dementia care environment. Help create a warm and welcoming experience at Oakwood Creative Care's Memory Café! The Memory Café is a free, social, and supportive gathering for individuals living with memory impairment and their care partners, family members, and loved ones. Volunteers help make each gathering feel welcoming and enjoyable by assisting with setup, connecting with attendees, and supporting activities throughout the event. Volunteers may help with: * Setting up tables, chairs, refreshments, and activity materials before guests arrive * Preparing and arranging coffee, pastries, and other refreshments * Welcoming guests and helping them feel comfortable when they arrive * Sitting with attendees, making conversation, and helping foster connections * Engaging with individuals living with memory impairment during social time and activities * Assisting staff with the engagement activity when needed * Helping with cleanup and resetting the space after the event No special experience is required—just a friendly, patient, and welcoming attitude!
